Topic: "Privacy Considerations for Internal Audit."

Speaker: Emma Pond, Principal & Director, Simply Privacy

We're pleased to invite you to our upcoming IIA NZ Lunch n Learn event, where we will delve into the crucial topic of Privacy Considerations for Internal Audit. This session is tailored for internal auditors looking to deepen their understanding of privacy compliance and risk management within their organisations.

Emma Pond, Principal & Director, Simply Privacy

A former lawyer, Emma is a senior privacy professional with over 20 years' privacy and related experience. With a genuine interest in people and what makes them tick, Emma has a particular interest in privacy training and awareness.

Emma's privacy career began at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner, where she managed the Auckland Investigations Team until 2012. Emma then moved into the private sector, becoming Senior Legal Counsel (Privacy) for NZ's biggest health insurer, Southern Cross Health Society. She joined Simply Privacy as a Director in 2019.

Emma holds a BA/LLB (Hons), the IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certifications, is a LEADR trained mediator, and an IAPP Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).

Topic Overview:

In New Zealand, almost all organisations must adhere to the Privacy Act 2020, which governs how personal information about staff and customers is handled. Beyond legal compliance, effectively managing privacy supports key organisational objectives, such as maintaining customer trust and ensuring data quality. Internal auditors have a vital role in providing assurance that their organisations are not only meeting their privacy obligations but are also managing privacy risks effectively.

During this Lunch n Learn, we will explore the foundational elements every organisation should have in place to ensure robust privacy practices. Our expert speaker will guide you through practical steps and considerations, equipping you with the knowledge to better assess and enhance your organisation's privacy framework.

What to Expect:

- Engaging Presentation: Gain insights into the key aspects of privacy compliance and risk management relevant to internal auditors.

- Interactive Q&A: Have your questions answered by our expert, and discuss challenges and best practices with fellow attendees.

- Networking Opportunity: For those attending in person, you will be able to connect with other professionals over a light lunch, share experiences, and build your network in a relaxed setting. Those who are attending online, bring your lunch and network with others online, before the start of the presentation.

This event is a perfect opportunity to enhance your understanding of privacy considerations in internal audit while also networking with your peers. Spaces are limited, so we encourage you to register early.

Please note: Emma will be presenting online for this session.
